I bought the yamaha keyboard for my wife for Christmas expecting
a middle of the road keyboard,We are both impressed with the quality, workmanship and endless features of this product for the price. We would recommend this to anyone from a beginner to an advanced player.

Yamaha Set
I cant complain at all. This was an awesome value bundle. It saved me a lot of money by going this route and it delivered quickly as well and everything still workd great many months later.

Very good product
Just started playing again after 15 years (kids) and this is a very good product. Quality, design and sound are great, very happy with this unit.

Funky Yamaha DGX-230/YPG-235 rocks!
This is a funky kind of keyboard for a price that can bring on the funk in a moment's notice. Yes, I LOVE this baby! Yamaha hit the mark with style, function and sound in this DGX-230/YPG-235.

I usually play keyboards only through standalone vsts, like Pianissimo, Truepianos, Galaxy Grand (Kontakt) and the like. So my initial judgment upon playing with it for a few minutes wasn't favorable; I didn't much marvel at the Grand "sound", as other did in their review here and OnlineShopDealer or YouTube. My wife suggested that I was spoiled because of the sounds of the standalones, so I took a day off from playing any standalones. I just fiddled with the DGX-230 for a whole day, immersing myself in the sound of the Grand sound. It then became apparent that I had misjudged the varmint--I actually came to enjoy the sound of this baby. What a keyboard!

I put her through her paces by utilizing some of the many features and she passed with flying colors. There really is no need to expound upon the features, as words don't really do justice to what this baby can do. But, suffice it say, she can do so much and more! If you are on the fence about purchasing this, I might suggest you drop your concerns and listen to a player: you won't be disappointed. Of course it can't really be put on par with $2000 keyboards, but commensurate with price and the Yamaha name, you've got a keen investment for enjoying a relatively sweet-sounding keyboard that will give back your investment many times over. And don't forget: you can send it back if it dissatisfies you. Just don't be unreasonable in your expectations. Remember: you are paying less than 3 bills. But you'll get a great keyboard you'll play with no complaints. Just keep it real.

The PERFECT beginner instrument
LOVE this keyboard it is everything you dream of. It was packaged very well first off, secondly it has a sturdy metal stand and the headphones are wonderfully snug, UNLIKE other large headphones which I find sometimes rickety and loose. AND the KEYBOARD is amazing SO easy to use and understand all the dials. LOVE the teaching feature. It is lightweight for it size and looks very smart. It is MUCH larger than I thought and the sound quality is PERFECT for a beginner like me. If you are looking for a keyboard this is your stop!!!

Great Keyboard
We purchased this keyboard for our 15 year old daughter. You cannot go wrong with Yamaha products and this is an excellent keyboard for the price. The sound quality is wonderful and the options are plentiful. The only drawback is that the headphones that come with it only play in one ear...but that is easily remedied by purchasing an stereo-to-stereo adapter. Otherwise, excellent bang for the buck with this keyboard.

Perfect Instrument
After much research on various well-engineered and dependable keyboards for beginners at an economical price, I narrowed the results down to four companies. My niece had an earlier version of the Yamaha keyboard, and it was perfect for my purposes. After reading the reviews for this newer version, I decided on it and have been very satisfied. I want to use it to study music theory, and especially piano and violin. The other instruments that play on the keyboard and the combinations you can create make it a terrifically fun and versatile instrument. It is very light and takes up little room. I recommend the bundle to get the adapter; bundled stand and headphones are useful as well.

Best gift ever!!
My husband has wanted one for 5 years and I never found one that was in our price range. The quality and sound is amazing, he is teaching himself how to play just absolutely loves it. He said it is the best gift ever.

My first keyboard
I'm going to give this five stars. Here's my reasoning behind my star rating

This came in 2 days to my door all packaged in one box.
It comes with all you need to get started less the books and skill
The piano is solid and the keys feel very close to a real piano.
The speakers are loud enough to drown out background noise like cars driving by your house but not loud enough to fill an arena with sound
The buttons are soft touch and are well placed. Will take time to learn what they all do
Good enough to grow into without having to upgrade as soon as I can play a song

Cons: it's a $200 keyboard. You get what you pay for.
The color is just....... Ok .... Kinda cheesy but I plan on giving it a custom camo job LOL!
The headphone are sub par considering they are labeled as professional.

My overall take on this is, if you want to learn and have something that you will have for a long time without breaking the bank. THIS IS IT!

All that I wanted and then some ...
As far as the keyboard is concerned I can't imagine wanting more than piano like keys. The stand is far better as regards stability than I'd have thought. The headphones came with an adapter plug so it can be used in two different size jacks. All and all a nice bundle with more features than any sane person could hope to use in a lifetime. Now if I can just figure some way to get the darn thing close enough to my desktop to make the USB connection to transfer songs from the included disk to the keyboard.

Product Description

If you're looking for a reasonably priced piano replacement, look no further than the dgx-230. It is the music student or professional musicians answer to I need more keys! and many music teachers encourage new students to get a keyboard that will grow with their needs. It features 76 non-weighted keys that not only look like piano keys but have a Graded Soft Touch (GST) action with different levels of resistance, making it easier for a budding musician to move to an acoustic or digital piano. The DGX-230 delivers on its piano theme with a special mode of fingering called Full Keyboard Mode. This allows the player to play the keyboard like a piano; for example a chord with the right hand and bass notes with the left. When using the accompaniment feature, the virtual band will follow these chords. Traditional portable keyboards normally require you to chord on the left side of the keyboard, in the bass section, which is foreign to most piano players. The DGX-230 is also capable of this mode, for those who prefer it. The DGX230 has 30 built-in songs plus 70 more on included CD-ROM for you to learn to play using the Yamaha Education Suite. The songs are separated into left and right hand parts, providing 7 levels of lessons plus a convenient chord dictionary. Imagine capturing your childs first performance or writing and recording your own songs. With the DGX-230, you have the equivalent of a built-in multi-track recorder to record one or multiple instrument parts at a time and assign each part to a different track. Six tracks are provided to accommodate sophisticated melodies, chord accompaniment and rhythm parts. The DGX-230 comes with 30 built-in songs plus 70 more on an included CD-ROM and an interactive lesson system, divided into left and right hand parts, for learning them. In addition, you have the ability to connect to a computer via USB, download more songs from the Internet into the internal Flash ROM (PC only), and use all of the Yamaha Education Suite features to help you learn to play them. Yamaha makes it easy to get connected with the new PC button. Now, instead of wading through function menus and fighting through a maze of selections, one button is your expressway to music on the web and your computer. In addition, once connected, you can play your songs into the computer (PC and Mac), edit them if necessary, and e-mail them to your friends and family. And with General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatibility, song data always plays back with the correct sounds. Master EQ: Tailor your sound Five different master equalizer (EQ) settings are provided to give you the best possible sound when listening through different reproduction systems—the instruments internal speakers, headphones, or an external speaker system. You're in control. Included Accessories: Yamaha Power Supply, Keyboard Stand and Professional Closed Cup Stereo Headphones.
