Great for folks on the go
First, do take the time to check out PT Cruiser's excellent July 16, 2014 video review and her explanation of the material from which this is made. I also received mine as a review sample and love it for a few reasons.
The first reason is the universal design that will accommodate tablet sizes that the product description cites as compatible. There are hooks in each corner that allowed me to use both a Samsung Tab 3 10.1 and an iPad 2. Using that simple, but effective design none of the buttons or ports were obstructed on either tablet.
Second, the material is practically indestructible. I have cases that are felt-like, real leather and everything in between. This one is sturdy and can be wiped clean, but if I do scuff it I am not going to lament it the same way I would if it were a fine leather.
Another feature that I like is the flap that covers the credit card and wallet part of this case. The flap doubles to also function as the holder that allows you to use this case as an easel. I view it as a precaution since it does hide cards and money. I do have an issue with the wallet part - it's pretty tight and will probably not hold over eight to ten bills. I checked it out with three twenty dollar bills and even those were a little tight. The credit card slots are extra wide and will easily hold the largest cards.
Finally, the construction is first rate, including the double zipper with faux (I am assuming) leather pull tabs. The zipper is sturdy enough to outlast the rest of the case. The handle is also heavy duty.
There is one thing I do want to clarify. The product description (at the time of this review) claims that this allows three different viewing angles in portrait mode. It doesn't. The easel only works in landscape mode. I am assuming that was a typo, but I want to make sure that your expectations are met.
Bottom line: this case affords about average protection, but a lot of convenience for folks who practically live with their tablet. There are no frills like an outside pocket to start adding weight and bloating it. And by 'average' protection I mean that this case will protect your tablet against dropping on a carpeted floor in an office, but it's a matter of chance in harsher environments.
