BLU Studio 5.0 LTE vs. Motorola Moto G LTE
I have both phones and have used both for a few months now.
Wife has the Blu and I have the MotoG.
Bottom line: I would prefer the Blu only if it had fit into my jeans pocket which is does but uncomfortably.
Below are some pro and cons comparing the two. If I didn't list a certain subject, that means they both are about equal or it really didn't matter to me.
Pros: 5.0" screen gives more than the extra 1/2" gain. With the 4.5" Moto G screen the 3 lower buttons (home, back, properties) is on the screen thus taking up space. With the BLU, the touch buttons are off the screen just below it, freeing up about another .25".
So in actuality the gain in screen size feels quite significant.
Keyboard haptic feedback feels better.
Phone is thinner and looks sleeker too.
$30 cheaper with more accessories included: headphones, back case, screen protector, charger.
Cons: Jellybean with no way to move apps to the SD card without rooting. No issues regarding screen resolution (it has 220 ppi), slightly less view angles and screen color temp is a bit cooler (bluish).
Battery run time is slightly less. A whole day 15 hour light use drains the battery to about 40%.
The battery usage is not as bad as I thought. We now end up around 50% with light usage all day which is on par with the Moto G LTE.
One new downside we found was the video recording being poor in low light indoors. The Moto G was able to up the gain to get to the proper brightness while the Studio 5.0 LTE video was dark. I don't think this is due to Jellybean vs. KitKat but probably more of a hardware issue. Still a minor issue for me.
This phone is by far better than any other Android I've used
I was a bit uncertain about whether or not this phone would be worth my purchase. This phone is by far better than any other Android I've used. I absolutely love this phone, and I could not ask for anything better. I use it with TMobile. The browser speed is impeccable, the functionality is flawless, and the graphics are gorgeous. The only complaint I have is the quality of the camera. The pictures that derive from the camera are of poor quality in the sense that they appear very grainy. Luckily, I didn't buy this phone for its camera. Awesome buy!
It's a good look!!
Have had the new blu studio 5.0 LTE since Wednesday and absolutely Love It!! My first blu device was the studio 5.5 S and if that phone was 4G /LTE capable I would've never left it, safe to say. I'm just waiting to root my phone and that will be the icing on the cake. Team blu!!
Phenomenal Phone For The Price
Is this phone as nice as an iPhone 5 or 6? No. Of course not. However, it's not nearly as expensive either. And with that said, it is a really, really nice phone that I like a lot. This is an absolutely outstanding phone for the price.
The screen is much bigger than the screen on my iPhone 4S, and while the resolution isn't quite as good as the resolution on my iPhone 4S's, it's still quite good. And while the screen is quite a bit larger, I did find the phone to be comfortable to hold and carry around, and it fits in my pocket just fine.
I found the phone call clarity to be quite good, and the battery life to be about the same or maybe even a little better than my iPhone 4S's.
I found the phone to play video games and YouTube videos and other miscellaneous apps well, and without any lag or freezing.
The camera takes really excellent pictures, and it shoots really good video too. Surprisingly good in fact. And, really, if you were to buy just a decent digital camera, it would cost you about the same or more than this smartphone. The point being, this phone truly is a terrific phone for the price. I recommend it very, very highly if you don't want to spend a substantial amount more for an iPhone.
Is this phone perfect? No. It does have some minor oddities and shortcomings if you're used to, say, an iPhone. However, in my opinion, you just cannot go wrong with this phone for the price. It's a LOT of phone for not a lot of money. And it's for that reason I'm giving this phone five stars.
If you have any questions about this smartphone, please feel free to ask, and I'll try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful.
A real nice phone for the money
A real nice phone for the money. Only downside is no case for it anywhere I have found, including BLU support. Works great with T-Mobile. While not a match for my kids new LG G3's, it is not far behind while costing 1/3 of the price of a G3!
Great Phone! Even Better Price!
I love the phone. I'm a T-Mobile customer. I still had the Samsung Galaxy S2. Suddenly the phone went out. It wouldn't turn on. All it did was vibrate. So, I went to the T-Mobile store and was going to order the S5 which was $609+ but I remembered a family member having a Blu phone and stating that it was compatible with a lot of service providers. Canceled my S5 and purchased this bad boy. I love it! It's awesome for the cost. Plus, my bill actually went down. It has the same features as the Galaxy or any other android phone. It's MUCH cheaper than any of the other "well known" brands out there with the same capabilities. Lost of storage. I also love the customized color options! If you're a T-Mobile customer, make sure that you go to the T-Mobile store and get the micro SIM card. The standard size will not fit. Would definitely recommend this phone!
4G LTE <$200 A great BLU phone offering
This phone has performed much better than the price might suggest. 4G LTE for less than $200 is very hard to beat. BLU keep up the great work this may be a best-kept secret in the cell phone arena. Had this phone for almost one month now. Do not over look this phone if you are wanting 4G LTE. The screen is not the highest of resolution (but is a good quality image), but I have here a great phone that is performing outstanding on the T-Mobile network for a lot less than what other carriers want to charge to upgrade. I have operated it on Wi-Fi (check out the new offering from T-Mobile) and roaming, and it has not had issues. BLU online tech support is very responsive to questions.
Case providers need to step up and support this phone, As a work around the Studio 5.0 case is working for protection.
excellent phone, fast
I never understood why people do not shop around and realize that there are other alternatives besides the "iPhone". I don't know if people realize that the iPhone 6 is incredibly expensive. The phone retails for 700 to 900 dollars depending on the model and more expensive than a desktop computer in most cases. When you sign up for a plan, you are paying close to 2x for the phone because of the expensive voice/data plan. There is no reason why you should be paying more that $30 per month for a unlimited talk and text with 1G of data. The average cell phone bill with the iPhone from the top cell companies range from 65 to 110 dollars per month. that extra money per month can buy 2 iPhones over the course of your 24 month contract. Now lets get to the Blu Studio, excellent phone, fast, smooth, great color screen, great touch control, fast LTE internet. Puts the big Samusng, HTC and Motorola to shame. It has a large 5 inch screen and not two wide so its easy to hold in the hand. This is definitely a winner. I have own iPhones and Samsung Galaxys in the past, and for this price, its a no brainer.
Great unlocked phone
A really good phone with good sound quality, fast processor, good digital camera and solid design. I had go use Facebook messenger through WiFi to us make phone calls because this phone is not on the Sprint network but the call quality even with a weak Wi-Fi signal was spot on. I primarily use this phone as a mini tablet for my Facebook, fantasy football, mp 3's and some games. Games and pictures look great on this phone and believe it or not, this phone has a simpler user interface than my Galaxy 5. All in all, a well built solid unlocked phone. Well worth the price.
Packs a punch!
This phone is wonderful. The pixel density isn't quite up to par with the latest phones, and the screen is made of what appears to be acrylic, but the phone ships with screen protectors so this isn't an issue. The phone has been running lime a champ for a month or so, with no sign of stopping. The performance is fantastic, especially when considering the price point. It runs better than my $500 windows phone did!
