When I first purchased the mic I had some doubts, but then I played with the mic for a little bit and it blew my mind. Thought it does pick up alot of background noise, but with the proper software that's no problem. This mic is great for vocals (rap, singing etc...) podcast, voice overs you name it.
(I rap and I have couple of song on youtube that i recorded with this mic if you want to check out the audio quality you can click the link or copy and paste ----> '[...]
It also has zero latency, which means you can hear yourself in realtime which is a plus. The mics build quality is absolutely excellent, but the stand that it comes with is a little cheap so you might want to pick up a alternate mic stand, but I rather have better sound quality than stand quality. This mic is great for beginners, if you're looking to pick up this mic for your home studio or you just want to do voice overs i recommend it. Its amazing and affordable. I rate this mic a 9.5/10 simply because the two buttons on the mic are kind of flimsy, i thought my mic broke but it was just the flimsy buttons, but the buttons shouldn't talk you out of buying this amazing mic
great mic for the money
This mic is awesome. Got this for future podcasts and videos, and the audio quality is great. My headset mic just didn't cut it, but this mic is just fantastic, and is a better option than the Blue Snowball.
This mic is awesome! Far exceeded my expectations, and has crystal-clear recording, even without a pop filter! I highly recommend this!
exceeds my expectations greatly. Recording quality is great as well as the ability to plug headphones into the headphone jack on the mic
Very Good Microphone.
Very good microphone for the price. I would recommend this to anyone looking to start pod-casting and or recording vocals...
Only cons would be the mic stand that it comes with... I would suggest buying a better stand.
Great microphone for its intended purpose
I purchased this audio technica ATR 2500 to use primarily as a recording microphone with my speech recognition software. I am an adjunct professor, and have to do quite a bit of dictation when reviewing students' papers each week. I was tired of using a headset mic, because I typically have to have the headset on for several hours at a time. Fortunately, I have a small recording studio built in my home. So with this audio technica microphone and my near soundproof control room I am able to dictate at ease while sitting back...and without getting headset fatigue.
In checking the quality of the recordings with this mic, I was/am impressed with the overall quality of this USB microphone. I own several other high-end studio quality microphones that aren't really appropriate for this application, so I'm extremely pleased with the performance of this audio technica ATR 2500. I highly recommended it to anybody looking for a great quality, reasonably priced USB microphone.
Ubuntu Love for Youtube Recording
I have purchased two of these microphones and they are perfect for recording voice in Ubuntu 13.10 32 bit on my Samsung laptop please read that review as well.
Upon plugging in the two mics Ubuntu sees them as one audio interface. Within pulse/alsa Ubuntu only allows you to change the recording volume to the interface itself.
Using these mics with Audactiy I have had much trouble picking up low level voices. I have used a usb 3.0 interface with linux and that didn't really affect any of the quality.
Using my tower computer using 12.10 Ubuntu 64bit with a AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics × 4,Graphics Gallium 0.4 on AMD ARUBA . I have had issues using these mics on my tower and gave up on my last shows tinyurl.com/dmchronicles.
Please ask any questions Wolf
I use this simply to record commentary on top of videos and to chat on Skype. The sound quality is superb. Even with the levels very low my voice is crystal clear. Definitely worth the money if you want a good microphone with no static and clean audio. Although it should be noted you're going to want to adjust the levels on the mic based on your environment because it will pick up any sounds nearby when set at higher levels. Even at 30 my friends could hear my mouse clicking a foot away. You may want to consider some accessories to filter out the excess noise if this bothers you.
Best Mic in this price range
I have started using this MIC for my podcasts. It is very sensitive and catching voices very clearly.
I'm a rapper, got this mic and was everything i wanted + more. great quality without a pop filter settings are beyond easy to learn and change :) i highly recommend this microphone.
